Walnut, birch, basswood, honey locust, plywood, aluminum, copper, brass, steel, cast iron drainpipe, expansion cell tank, funnel, Chroma-Key paint, C-clamps, graphite, water pump, pneumatic tubing, plumbing, electrical and electronic components.
Water circulates up from the tank, down through the system of funnels, draining through the log and back into the tank, cycling on and off every few minutes.

Detail of hollowed log pipe. Before cast iron, Philadelphia used hollowed logs as water mains; the last wooden water pipes were taken out of service in 1858. Hollow logs are still buried in the streets of Philadelphia, and they appear periodically when streets are excavated.
