Early 20th Century Drainpipe, 2014. Cast iron drainpipe, walnut, pine, polystyrene foam, polyethylene foam, Bondo, wood putty, acrylic, fiberglass resin, and nylon. 46” x 24” x 20”
The drainpipe was excavated from my backyard in the course of home renovations. I believe it was installed in the early years of the 20th century, around the time when Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven produced the sculpture “God”, a drain trap screwed to a wooden miter box, currently in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
