Scenes for Empty Rooms is the result of a residency at Glen Foerd on the Delaware, a historic estate at the far edge of Northeast Philadelphia. Over the course of several months, I researched the history of the estate, as well as the ways the mansion has been renovated, restored and preserved since its construction in the 1850s. Parallel to this research, I captured 3D scans of many architectural details inside the mansion. Using a CNC router and the scan data, I created physical copies of these elements, combining them with objects from Glen Foerd's collection to create a series of sculptures. The project consists of four site-specific sculptures installed throughout the historic mansion.
This work: The Only Extant Copy. Salvaged pine, oak and poplar, plywood, epoxy resin and aluminum. 65" x 60" x 36" 2016.
